This Photographer provides photographic coverage of spot news, enterprise and sports in Philadelphia and eastern Pennsylvania. This person works closely with the news editor/photos, news editor and staff in the bureau and the National Photo Desk in New York City to ensure coverage of daily spot news, scheduled sporting events and regular enterprise. This Photographer generates enterprise projects that add a dimension beyond the daily report. This person also provides in-depth coverage of a variety of stories through multimedia storytelling. This photographer covers national and international assignments as required. Travel for assignments is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have superior news judgment and the photographic skills to cover a wide variety of events, plus demonstrated initiative and enterprise to generate strong photos beyond scheduled assignments. Required skills include a sharp sense of photo composition, the ability to compose as events unfold and the ability to work productively under deadline situations. Candidates must be able to produce work in multimedia, incorporating use of video as well as audio slideshows. Applicants must be able to process and edit both film-based and digital photographic images and transmit using appropriate technology. Applicants must be self-motivated and well-organized, with the flexibility to juggle priorities. Candidates must have communication and interpersonal skills to deal constructively with fellow AP staffers, freelancers and members. Candidate must also be eager to work as part of a team.
