4x5 Field Camera- looking to buy
|
Hi There~
I’m in need of a 4×5 field camera with a 150mm lens. If you know of one for sale, please let me know.
Many Thanks, Lindsay

Lindsay -
I have a Crown Graphics with a 135mm lens and a couple of holders. It’s an old press camera, (like a Speed Graphics) so not technically a field camera, but takes wonderful pictures. I’m in Brooklyn – you’re welcome to come by and have a look if you’d like.

Hi Jonathan~
Thanks so much for writing. I’m not familiar with this camera… do you have any links or photos of it? Does this camera have tilt/swing movements?
Best, Lindsay

I would go to PhotoGizzmo on 26th St. ( www.photogizzmo.com) The owner, Lou specializes in large format gear and often has in stock the parts I couldn’t find anywhere else. Also check out Lens and Repro I picked up a Wisner field from them not too long ago for a decent price.
If you want full tilt/swing movements on a field 4×5 there aren’t a lot of options. You can get one of the Wisners, but parts can be a bit hard to find. (I had to build my wide angle bellows). Lens and Repro has a good selection. K. B. Canhams are nice and light but pricey…I think Lou is the only resale guy in the city selling them…he had one used one a couple months back but that has probably sold by now. There are a couple others made with the full tilt/swing but those are the two you are going to have the easiest time in the city.

they have/had a zone vi for a decent price. zone vi had an early affiliation with ron wisner but the relationship went south unfortunately. any repairs for either can be done through Richard Ritter.
You also might want to look at a wista wood field, it will fold up with a small 150 attached which makes for quick setup. it’s also smaller and lighter than most wood fields out there.

You’ll find a lot at Badger Graphics
Not in NYC but has lots of descriptions on the web site. Shen-Hao is not a bad way to go for about $700 bucks new, not including the lens.
