A couple of video questions...
|
I shot a little video of a man talking to camera with a Canon G9 today. I also simultaneously recorded sound with an Olympus digital recorder and external microphone. The man spoke very quietly. Too quietly, in fact, even when I increase the volume to 200% in iMovie.
Two questions, then:-
Is there a way for extracting the audio from an .AVI file, editing it and then “re-inserting” it into another.AVI file (or something else) with the images? I would like to try to increase the volume and clean up some background sounds in Audacity (for example).
I clapped my hand in front of the subject to have a sync point in both the sound and image, hoping to use the Olympus’ sound file rather than the Canon’s for the man’s dialogue. Even when I carefully sync the initial clap, by the end of the take (some 12 minutes or so) the sound is out of sync with the lip movements. Any thoughts?
Many thanks…

If you’re using the latest iMovie, see if you have the old version, iMovie HD installed – look in applications for “iMovoe Previous Version” – it’s a far more flexible product.
Check out the audio enhancement tools on that, especially the noise reduction – with a little work, you’ll get impressive results.
