I graduated with honors in Spanish Literature and Religious Studies from the University of Wisconsin. Then my wife and I lived in Nicaragua for a year of abject poverty, giardia, and malaria. Next up was two years teaching in Lanzhou, China, the most polluted city in the world at the time. During this season, I completed an MBA in International Economic Development. Most recently, I have worked on a variety of projects in South Africa, including microfinance, leadership development, and theology.
I am a photojournalist and writer, with work appearing in publications on four continents, including Relevant, Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, Country, The Gardener, Overland Journal, The Sunday Times (South Africa), TopBike, Living and Loving, Trail Bike Adventure, The Dispatch, The Citizen, Road Bike, The Sunday Tribune, The Saturday Star, Neue Quarterly, Christian Living Today, and Geez.
