Add RAW Capabilities To Low-End Canon Cameras
If you’ve got a low-end Canon point-and-shoot digital camera you could have access to more features than you think… such as being able to shoot RAW! Here’s the hack someone told me about tonight if any cares to try it (at your own risk). http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2007/09/add-raw-capabil.html
OR
http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Supercharge_Your_Camera_with_Open-Source_CHDK_Firmware
CHDK adds the following features to your supported camera: Shooting in RAW Live histogram (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel) Zebra mode (blinking highlights and shadows) DOF-calculator Battery indicator Scripts execution (exposure/focus/… bracketing, intervalometer and more) File browser Text reader Calendar Some tools and games
Sorry if this seems like old news to some. I don’t know anyone personally who has tried it, although some people wrote in response to the newer article that they’ve had success with it. Interesting stuff for the techies out there.
