Adreinne Waheed has had a passion for photography since she got her first Pentax camera at age 13. This Oakland native and Howard University alum honed her skills at Essence magazine, where she was photo editor from 1999 until 2003. Ms. Waheed most recently held the title of Associate Photo Editor at VIBE magazine. She still shoots in her spare time and has been published by Random House Books, BET Books, Sony Music, Columbia Records, The Fader, Emerge,KING, VIBE and Crisis magazines.
Ms. Waheed resides between Berkeley, CA, Washington, DC, and Brooklyn,NY. She is currently building a photo archive of African American vernacular photographs.
