|
My thoughts go out to all who held her dear. I find myself choking back tears. Perhaps I should just let them flow. I only knew her work not the person herself.
|
Life it’s but a glimpse. Condolences to family and friends, and the photo community.

Life is so fragile. I was with her almost exactly a year ago and now she is gone. Her work will live on, however, and what a legacy.

I am so so sorry. My condolences to her friends and family.
Nothing I can say can make things better but I have to tell you that what I was most impressed with when I met her at the LA VII seminar was her passion for life. It seemed that she really made the most of every minute she had here. I saw her jump up on a table (like Superwoman) to talk to some friends she couldn’t reach in a crowded hallway. She is a great inspiration.
|
To Alexandra’s family and friends, my deepest condolences, but her memory will live on indelibly burned into our consciousness through her amazing pictures

I can’t say how sad this makes me.
My condolences to all her family and friends.

Such heartbreak and my family’s heart and prayers go out to the Boulat family and to her partner Issa Freij. . If there is any consolation, and there seldom is enough to gather in the heart which wrenches under such sadness, it must be this: that Alexandra’s photographs were, are and shall remain an inspiration for many of us, in their quite and poignant truth. That she shed light upon many of the places in this world which were umbrella’d by darkness is one of the finest testaments and accomplishments that a human being, let alone a photographer, can achieve. She achieved so much that has given so much to so many of us in such a small amount of time.
Marina, Dima and I send our thoughts this tired evening across the sea and to the Boulat family and to Alexandra’s partner.
Our sincerest condolences and love.
Bob, Marina and Dima Black
What thou lovest well remains,
the rest is dross
What thou lov’st well shall not be
reft from thee.

A Socratic obituary? Sweet, beautiful democracy.

|
Oh no. I’m shocked, it took me a while to write this… Just my feelings are with her and her family – VII &friends.
I remember last time we met, she invited me at her flat in Paris and talked about photography, her love for painting, childhood and growing up with her sister and parents… Having tea, chatting with an inspiring photographer that wasn’t being “self-centered im-a-star”, I felt good. Ah man, Alexandra was so kind, open and just being herself, a great woman.
Je me souviens t’avoir téléphoné, te demandant de te revoir, et puis tu as ri car tu n’étais pas à Paris mais à Kaboul… Merci Alexandra.

Alexandra looked at my work for the portfolio review for the VII London seminar.
She was warm, honest and encouraging with her critique. I’ll never forget the excitment in her voice when she said that the impact of climate change and global industry on rural life and agriculture was an important topic, “as important as war” she enthused. Remembering hose words will always get me through the tough times.
I wish her friends and family well during this sad and difficult time.
|
Im sorry to hear that. My condolences to her family and friends.

A few year ago,as a photojournalist in the making, I red articles, looked for inspiration in the career, work and life of some of the Best in the profession.
Alexandra Boulat was one of them… I am sad… I was thinking of her and wondering about the evolution of her condition the night before she passed away.
My deepest condolences to her partner, family and friends.

Condolensence.
|
Ive been informed by Frank Evers that more info should be forthcoming for those who wish to send flowers, donate, etc. And Peter- yes, that is a splendid idea. Perhaps someone should contact LS and see if we can set something up, with a permanent link on the LS page, to send flowers/donate to a favored charity for those photo-js who pass.
|

I heard her speak at a VII seminar last year. A tragic loss.
|
Peace to her sould and her family. Her work is great, she is in my kichen beside the fridge in a yellow brown picture of an empty an huge interior of a house made of cement.., a lonely chair made of cane, abandonated in the midle..outside the light was supposed to be so strong that it designed little stars shining trough the holes on the wall. It was in Sarayevo. A testemonial of the presence of war in the world, and how lonely men can be.
