Alfred Lor

A Short Biography

I am a professional photographer based in the Southern Cape of South Africa.

I was born and grew up as a previously advantaged citizen in Pretoria, South Africa. After completing my schooling I travelled for a year in Europe and the UK. I returned to South Africa to complete a three year full time national diploma in Professional Photography at the Pretoria Technikon. After completing my studies I travelled through South East Asia for 9 months before settling in Cape Town.
I have worked as a freelance photographer in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban for the last 9 years. I have worked extensively as a reportage editorial photographer, but have also shot a fair amount of commercial and advertising work for Hotels and Developers, primarily in the fields of Architecture and Industrial Photography.

My first loves have always been documentary and landscape photography, I have always had a few personal projects running in my spare time. I would love to be able to focus more of my time and attention to these fields but have had to focus on the editorial and commercial works for fiscal reasons.

I am happily married and father to a beautiful girl child.
