Here’s the job description: City Limits seeks a part-time news assistant to support the daily workings of the CityLimits.org website and e-Weekly. This 20-25 hour/week job includes reporting as well as managerial and administrative duties. Responsibilities include recruiting writers and photographers, administering contracts, helping to hire and manage interns, applying to journalism contests, recordkeeping, and developing story ideas for assignment – plus reporting on such City Limits primary coverage areas as child welfare and issues surrounding the New York City Housing Authority. We are looking for someone who is motivated to invest in the issues, develop great sources and become expert in NYC civic affairs. The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer with previous news reporting experience, and an organized, self-starting multi-tasker. A passionate interest in, and knowledge of, New York City neighborhoods and policy is key. Interested candidates must first familiarize themselves with City Limits’ work and history, then craft a specific, well-written application. Apply to CityLimits.org Editor Karen Loew with a cover letter, resume, and 3-5 published hard news or news feature clips via e-mail at karen@citylimits.org or U.S. mail at 120 Wall Street, 20th Floor, NY, NY 10005. I hope you’re all doing well, and thanks for your help! -Alice Keywords |
