Opening Reception Saturday, Feb. 14, 4 to 8 pm
Officials authorize war. Photographers witness it. The media disseminates it.
From memory to history, our collective understanding of conflicts abroad passes through many filters. In Fovea’s next exhibit, photojournalist Anthony Suau’s images challenge our assumptions. The Pulitzer Prize-winner captures how events escalate into war, and how both media and politicians influence the writing of history.
During the last two decades Suau has photographed more than 25 conflicts, from Bucharest to Mexico and from Rwanda to Iraq. Fovea will be the first in the United States to exhibit portions of his one-man show previously shown in Moscow and Shanghai. At the opening reception the veteran Time Magazine photojournalist will hold a gallery talk at 6 p.m.
On view through May 3rd, Fridays-Sundays noon-6pm.
