Antony Kaminju is a photojournalist from Nairobi Kenya but now based in South Africa since October 2005. He was part of Photographers taking a one year Documentary programme at Market Photo Workshop, a pioneering project sponsored by Getty images.
Previously he worked as chief Photographer/Photo Editor for five years for the Nation Media in Nairobi (East and Central Africa’s largest media House)
He was also part of World Press mentors training photographer in Kampla Uganda/2002/2003
His previous training was in graphic arts and briefly worked in Television.
At the moment he is freelancing with Reuters News Agency and Sunday Times in Southern Africa.He also takes assignments from Non Governmental Organizations among others.
Despite being based in South Africa , Antony has a strong network of photographers in East Africa and continues to organize workshops in that region.
He has founded Photo Multimedia Institute, an East African based colloboration and network of photographers who’s goal is to develop and inform on photojournalism trends as well as building a photojournalism culture in the region.
He is currently pursuing an MA degree in digital arts at Wits University, South Africa.
