Anyone like camels?

Hallo, I was wondering if there are any other people out there who have this idea that a field full of camels constitutes a fun outing. I am planning on such an outing in the near future and wanted to know if there would be any other LS that might be going to the Pushkar Camel Fair. If so maybe there could be an informal LS party (might be short notice to arrange a formal one). We could meet around a camel dung fire and compare tips on camel racing. I will be there with some friends from the 16th onwards.

I would love to go, have been receiving e-mails for that fair for a long time and always been intrigued, have fun, looking forward to your photos. If I can make it will look for you around that dung fire!

I wonder how much a used camel goes for these days, anyway?

I can look into the pricing, and see whether they take PayPal or not.

Remember to check under the hump or they’ll try to sell you a lemon. An altogether untrustworthy and unsavory crew, used camel salesmen, like disk jockeys and politicians and Red Sox fans.

As I clicked through, I realized you probably weren’t trying to give away a few cartons of unfiltered Camel cigs…
Man, I miss those—smoked them for 20 years, but they don’t sell them in Japan…

So here is the lowdown on camels, that is the big desert dwellers that look similar to the outlawed front man for the ciggies named after them. I am not exactly sure what the difference between a new and used camel is. (I guess with the smokes it would be obvious.) I found what I would consider a new camel for 10,000rs.(38rs=$ 80rs=GBpound)I say new because he was only 6months old, still small, for a camel. The big ones (probably fall into used category)go for 25,000 and up. Not too bad. Shipping and handling is where they get you though.

I got offered 250,000 camels for my wife once. I said it wasn’t enough. The offer was duly upped to half a million. It has been a great arguing point ever since. If she complains I tell her she should count herself lucky that I value her so highly, otherwise she might have been sold, and you lot would all be coming to my back garden to take your pictures.

would you just look at those guys? they’re probably planning on punching a hole in the radiator and tell the poor schnook who brought his camel into the shop that he needs a new transmission, the lousy thieves.

So … you can have your camel, and eat it, too?

by BignoseTW | 20 Nov 2007 02:11 | Taipei, Taiwan |
I have ridden camels into the Sahara, smoked Camels, but never have eaten any camels.

Can any LS gourmands report on how camel meat tastes?
