Born & raised in Melbourne Australia, Asanka Brendon Ratnayake set off to the sub continent to kick start his editorial career upon graduation in 2009. Freelancing for wire agencies such as Reuters, Asanka also worked as a staff photographer & Journalist for one of Sri Lanka’s major Sunday papers ‘The Sunday Leader’. Still in the early stages of his career, he has had work published in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Independent, Radio France international, Al-Jazeera, The Frontline and other international media.

In the last two years he has documented everything from halfway houses in Melbourne to living conditions in some of the most isolated Aboriginal communities in the Australian desert to drug dens in Afghanistan. Coming from a strong marketing/advertising background Asanka Brendon has done numerous commercial projects for various advertising agencies in Melbourne as well as major sporting labels such as Everlast USA.
