Multimedia Project Manager

OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with others to overcome poverty and suffering
DIVISION PURPOSE: We give Oxfam one voice and lead our communications, inspiring people to support our mission to overcome poverty and suffering.
TEAM PURPOSE: We work with Oxfam affiliates and programme staff to gather, receive, and share multimedia communications content for use by internal stakeholders. We base the information we gather on what will meet the needs of stakeholders and to show the effectiveness of Oxfam’s work. This enables Oxfam to raise money and generate awareness and action in support of our development, humanitarian and campaigning programmes.
JOB PURPOSE: To commission and project manage delivery of multimedia communications projects to enable Oxfam stakeholders to achieve their communications objectives.

Management of a budget and significant processes and relationships
Commission and project manage content gathering assignments that meet stakeholder requirements in accordance with the annual content plan, including travelling as a writer/producer where necessary.
Support Head of Stories, Film and Photography Team in developing annual content gathering plan and growing the roster of story-gatherers (in-house and external).
Suggest, develop and lead innovative projects working with new talent and technologies.
Work with internal and external stakeholders within Communications (Media, Creative Studio, Digital Communications, Brand), Supporter Marketing (fundraising) and Campaigns Divisions, and International programme staff.
Advise others as to how best to gather and share multimedia resource, facilitate creative problem solving and provide expert consultancy.
Support clients and external agencies in content searches, providing training where necessary, and checking factual accuracy.
Commit to delivering vision, strategy and objectives for new team, fostering a positive working environment.
Managing volunteers and/or interns.
Skills and Competence
Knowledge and experience of producing multimedia content such as stories, photos, audio, film.
Experience of gathering first person testimony through interviewing, including using translators.
Experience of project management in a communications context, with a track record of delivering high quality communication products on time, on budget and to brief.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (influencing, leadership, negotiation, presentation) and ability to foster co-operation between teams, and with external consultants and agencies.
Ability to work tenaciously under pressure and take the lead to resolve problems.
Ability to work independently, prioritise own workload and respond to changes in work plans with flexibility and resilience.
Shows initiative to suggest, develop and deliver creative and innovative communications projects and develop relationships with high profile photographers and film makers.
Ability to travel for up to 12 weeks a year (up to four weeks at a time).
Knowledge and understanding of Oxfam, or equivalent organisation.
Experience of travelling to / working in challenging places and circumstances.
Skills in photography and ability to use Photoshop.
Ability to do editing using software such as Final Cut Pro, Avid or Premier.
