Batch captioning

Hey there. Does anyone knows how to do batch captioning of RAW files? I have photoshop CS2 and no idea how to caption about 600 files which don’t want to do one by one.
Thanks.c

Carlos,
I am not sure that you can do that in PS. The IPTC editing in there is always bad and slow, as it is in CS3, but if you have Bridge I am sure you can do that.
Another option, and probably the best piece of $100 software I ever bought, is Photo Mechanic, which makes this all very easy, you can save templates for later and copy a base caption to 1000’s of images in seconds.
Worth a look, but if not, Bridge will do it.
Hope this is some help
Jeremy

I do confirm, first Photo Mechanic, first class for photo editing.

Otherwise Bridge, indipensable complement for CS2 and CS3.

pm is good i hear, with bridge you can set up a metadata template and load metadata as you suck the raw images off the camera, also with bridge you could just do it once the images are on the laptop. j

It can also be done very efficiently with Lightroom, which is an excellent image management software as well as raw processor. A new version, 2.0 will be available this week.

To caption a lot of photos, Lightroom will be much faster than Bridge due to the way it’s set up. Just select all the photos you want to caption in grid view, then fill in the fields.

Thank you all. Finally I used Iview and worked perfectly, fast and easy. Now, I don’t know if that info will get attached to the RAW files when I open them up separately in photoshop. Have to check but can’t now. But since the client has Iview I sent the catalog. thanks again.c

Iveie, Photo mecanics, Lightroom, Portfolio and more can be used for those things

Regarding XMP/IPTCCore keywording you might try Fotostation Pro, it can even handle XMP sidecar files properly and is unbeatable for fast keywording and you can automate a lot of your work with actions, macros etc.

Another vote for PhotoMechanic. It’s the best app out there when it comes to captioning RAW’s. And their support is excellent too.
