Belize
|
Hey everyone,
I will be traveling to Belize to do some photo stories in a couple of weeks. I will be staying in Belize City, but plan to move around the country while I’m there. Potential stories I will be working on include, the effects of environmentalist movements in Belize on native peoples, world immigration to the developing country, and the effect of tourists on the lifestyle of Rastafarians in Belize. If anybody has any contacts in Belize or any relevant information on the country, the help would be greatly appreciated. I have been doing extensive research on the country in past weeks, but still hope to make a few contacts before arrival. I will be there from August 30th-September 13th. Thanks for any help.

I don’t have any contacts, but you will find the people most friendly. I would get out of Belize city asap (after you are done shooting there), you could stay down in Placencia, as that is a good place to do your research…rent a jeep- have a great time! I’ll be looking for your photos, as I was there before the cruise ship terminal…the islands are great!

I was just in Belize about four weeks ago. I was there photographing a Peace Corps volunteer in Lucky Strike Village. I also did some work for the Red Cross in Belize City. I spent a delightful weekend at Caye Caulker. Belize people are very nice. I had a good time there and hope to return soon.

Do not leave Belize without going to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. It’s a good place to get to Caye Caulker as well. Very affordable. Eat at the taco cart at the basketball court and drink fresh squeezed orange juice at Ruby’s in the morning.
Here’s a few snaps I shot on assignment for a travel website: http://www.photoshelter.com/c/thomasboyd/gallery-show/G0000cUIMekHY4pc/
