About
I’m a photographer in Washington DC, where I was born. Freelance since 1995.
I’ve traveled quite a bit in Eastern Europe and the Balkans for a ten-year body of work called East, looking at the evolution of the region since the end of communism. Over the years my assignment work has been published in Das Magazin, New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, Le Figaro, New York Times, Washington Post, among many others, and has won awards from the Nat’l Press Photographers Association.
I’ve received a couple of grants for the East series, and have exhibited in several countries. I currently do a lot of documentary-style weddings and work on my own projects. I’ve also photographed cover art for several Thievery Corporation CDs.
Member of Metro Collective (metrocollective.com).

Hey there LS friends, if you know of a friend or colleague still looking:
Our basement room is available for Obama inauguration housing. Petworth neighborhood, NW DC. Clean, carpeted, quiet, kitchenette, private BA, and separate entrance. Four-block walk to green line Metro, close to bus lines. Bike downtown in 15 minutes.
Sleeps three. 3-night minimum. $500/night for up to two people, $600/night for three, $700/night for four (the carpet is quite cushiony for someone on the floor if necessary :).
