There have been lot’s of post’s with the quetion of “What do I charge for this or that?” and I think thats great. Better to ask your peers for some sound advice to make sure you dont get takin to the cleaners and subsequently bring down photo rates for everyone.

We’ve all heard young aspiring photogs say “Well $xx amount of dollars is better then nothing and Im just starting out and I would of lost the sale if I had stuck to my guns, blah blah blah”. Imagine if car dealers started selling there auto’s for less then they paid for them?, in no time they’d be outta biz and so will you.

This rant of mine comes from a photo sale I just threw in the garbage five mins ago. Short of the long, I turned down 3K for a sale that was easily worth 12K at the least. To make sure you understand, Im barely gonna make rent next week and I did what I did outta principle and long term survival. They thought I was bluffing them when I walked away.

Moral of the story, better to lose a sale then be a dime store whore. I sure could use that dime right now….
