In January of 2006, two friends travelled simultaneously to different regions of the Arab world. Their experiences on these shared journeys were so similar that they have been compelled to share them through photographs – as, ultimately, they experienced a Middle East not that different from home.
Of Middle Eastern Appearance attempts to flip some of the modern-day stereotypes of the Islamic world. Photographers Cameron Barrie and Ed Giles show that the daily bombardment of images and sound-bytes of terrorism, war and the ‘clash of civilizations’ are far from the complete picture of life in the Middle East.

Both artists will be at the gallery on Saturday the 10th of June, so if you’d like to meet and greet, please come along.
