canon 1-d mark ii n VS 1-ds

I’m currently thinking about my next big camera upgrade and had a few questions:

Just wondering if at standard photo sizes (not blowing up to wall size), there is a noticeable difference between the picture quality of the mark ii n and the 1-ds? I know that the 1-ds is full frame, but is the sensor significantly better?

Also, as a photojournalist, do you believe that the speed of the mark ii n and its ability to record on SD and CF warrants its purchase over the full frame 1-ds?

Thanks in advance for the help.

there’s a good post about the 1ds mark I from this week, by lisa hogben. read that for commentary on the 1ds mk I. 1D mark IIn is a great camera, i own one and am very happy with it. I understand the 1D mark III is a great improvement from the Mark IIn so maybe wait for it?

At standard sizes you wouldn’t notice a remarkable difference between the 1D series cameras and the 1Ds series. If your shooting raw I doubt you would notice the difference on a standard print between any of the Canon DSLR’s on the market at the moment.

The 1Ds (Mark I) is very slow. It’s annoyingly slow at everything it does. A problem for photojournalism and news. The 1Ds Mark II is much, much better in this regard.
