Cecilia Vasquez was born in the Texas border city of Laredo. She acquired a B.A. in psychology and a minor in communication from Texas A&M International University. Aside from her studies in psychology and communication, Cecilia earned her master degree in Fine Arts at the San Francisco Art Institute in May 2012. Cecilia third profession is in international import-export trade.
Cecilia describes photography as a medium that liberates the photographer to discover and understand itself and their world through the photographic lens. This happens through the learning process that occurs when photographing the world’s social and culture issues and topics. Photography is a tool to discover the unknown through the known. She further explains that a photograph has the strength to disrupt and transgress time, for it captures and suspends a moment in time; it fragments the time in event. It suspends time from moment to moment. In this isolated and suspended moment, the emotional, the most often dismissive aspect of the physical world is captured and through this silent moment life speaks.
