About

Charlie is an award winning photographer and photojournalist currently based in Barcelona, Spain. His clients and publications include Time Magazine, BBC News, National Geographic Traveler, Lonely Planet Magazine, The Times, Public Radio International, Financial Times, The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHRC), CS Monitor Weekly, 100 Eyes, Global Post, The Times Travel Magazine, Out of Focus Magazine and Viva Magazine.

Charlie especially likes to work on stories of human interest and has experience working in remote locations like the Balkans, Africa and Latin America. He strongly believes that photojournalism can bring about change by functioning as a witness and giving a voice to people who are powerless to tell their own stories.

His most recent awards include the 2008 PX3 Prix de la Photographie in France for photojournalism, the Life category of Travel Photographer of the Year, the 2008 SOS Racism Annual Photography contest and an exhibit in the Ei8ht Magazine Awards and Summer Show.

He is represented by Cosmos in France, GraziaNeri in Italy and WpN in New York.

He has studied with Philip Blekinsop, Pep Bonet, Paco Elvira and Tino Soriano. He has a Masters in Photojournalism from the University Autónoma of Barcelona and a B.A. in International Relations and Biology from Bowdoin College. Prior to his career in photography, he worked in investment banking and equity management.

A MUST READ ARTICLE ON THE FUTURE OF MEDIA

In case anyone missed it, there is a very well written, in depth article entitled “Revolutions in the Media Economy”, by David Campbell. One section of the article was published in Dispatches. It’s a four part series, but you can find all four links to it on my blog or on David’s site. It’s a really a must read.
