Chet Gordon is a staff photographer at the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, NY. A photojournalist for nearly 25 years, he’s worked as a staff photographer at three NYC / NJ area newspapers and as a photo editor at the New York Daily News. His work has also appeared in The New York Times, International Herald-Tribune, USA Today, Army Times, Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Popular Photography and American Teacher magazines, among others. A former U.S. Marine, he served honorably in the mid-1980’s, including 2 years stationed on Okinawa, Japan. A longtime volunteer and “travel – junkie”, he accompanies several humanitarian aid clients on their international disaster relief and medical missions. Since 1997, he’s worked in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Jordan, Kosovo, Albania, Gaza, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Russian Federation, Venezuela, Paraguay and Afghanistan. He is a career member of the National Press Photographer’s Association (NPPA) and is a former board member of the NY Press Photographer’s Association (NYPPA). He routinely mentors young photographers looking to break into the industry, and vacations in Bermuda and Kenya.
