About

Staff photographer at the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, NY. Worked in newspapers for 20 years, including stints on staff at three NYC / NJ area newspapers and a photo editor at the NY Daily News. Work has appeared in The New York Times, NY Daily News, International Herald-Tribune, USA Today, and BusinessWeek, among others. A former U.S. Marine, served honorably in the mid-1980’s, including 2+ years stationed on Okinawa, Japan. (whoa, was it that long ago?) A longtime volunteer & travel junkie, I accompany several humanitarian aid clients on their international disaster relief & medical missions. Since 1997, worked in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Jordan, Kosovo, Albania, Gaza, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Russian Federation, Venezuela, Paraguay & Afghanistan. *Sure wish my folks were around to have seen some of this. They were my best editors & biggest fans…

Working in Thailand.

Anybody worked in Thailand lately? Heading to Mae Sot, on the Burmese border in the northern provinces for a longtime medical client in a few weeks. Was in the south along the beaches when I was on active duty; but that was 20 years ago, which of course is a lifetime. Just looking for current feedback, tips, etc.
