Video question....

Hello everyone, I wonder if any of you could help me with a video question…..
I would like to transfer a video tape (shot with a small sony video camera) onto a dvd…. so far no much luck!
I have a mac and I was wondering if I could do this with I movie or I dvd…..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
