This coming weekend I will be covering the 21st Blindtarmen Ski Festival. This is a sexy and somewhat crazy summer x-country ski race arranged annually at a small Norwegian coastal resort town – in the middle of an archipelago. Actually, its a sailing and boating eldorado. Natural snow is being hauled in from the distant mountain regions by huge trucks. The snow is then distributed and placed in the towns narrow streets to be prepared as the track. Both male and female world-class racers compete. This year several World and Olympic champions will be on the start line. Last year the festival established the unofficial world record on 100-meter x-country dash. This is one thing that is exotic and special about Norway.
