WAS: Freelance journalist in Baghdad and now Beirut. Was in Baghdad three times since 2002, and coming up on my year mark as of May 20. Have worked for AP, NY Daily News, and others before freelancing became my way of life. Now based in Beirut for a variety of papers. Basically, I’m a mercenary.

Just finished a Stanford Knight Fellowship for the 2008-09 year and now in Islamabad as a freelancer again.

Pakistani Visa in London

Hello all— My frustrations with Islamabad continue to mount. I now have to go to London (probably next week) to get my journalist visa for Pakistan. So two questions:

1) Anyone know the high commissioner or someone in the press office at the Pakistani embassy in London who can help?
2) Anyone know of a cheap place to stay in London for a few days or a week?
