Cleaning indside lenses

My zoom lens (canon Ef-S IS 17-85) has dust inside it where I cant get to to clean. Does anyone know if it is possible to get it cleaned out (perhaps by some professionals or a service center) or do I have to get a new lens? I assume that the whole thing would have to be taken apart.

thanks, jade

Does it effect your images? Dust inside a lens would have a negliable effect on the final image unless it was really a lot of dust. Yes, maybe you would have a little more flaring when shooting into light sources but apart from that I think you are fine. My old Leica 35mm f2 lens had all these chipped off black paint chips inside it and it was still one of the sharpest, cleanest image producing lens I have ever used.
