collaborative approach with your subjects?
|
i am wondering if other photographers have done collaborative pieces, not with other writers or photographers, but with their subjects. i think this sounds like a very interesting approach…
i was reading an article (link below) about wendy ewald who gives cameras and assignments to her subjects in communities she lives in for some months, and i have also, like so many other people, seen Kids With Cameras.
but i would like to hear about other things that people might have done…the only other project that i have heard of that takes on this approach and that sticks in my memory is a photographer who was working with a former prisoner who was a poet. this woman wrote her poetry on top of portraits and photographs…

hoping to hear what other people think about working in this way- having your subjects create their own art, poems, their own photographs/video—and ideas that people might have considered or seen enacted. i am trying to figure out exactly how i want to go about my next project and this seems like a definite possibility. thanks!
