COMPACT shooting RAW
|
I know this has been discussed before, but I somehow cannot find the earlier posts on this subject. Sorry to ask you all again, but which compact shooting RAW do you recommend?
I have the Ricoh GRD II myself, but the 28 mm lens is gettin’ too wide for me, now that I’m focusing more on portraits…
Would love to hear your suggestions! Warmly, Rosa.

Canon G10 (28mm – 140mm) shoots RAW. If 28 is too wide, it’s predecessor, the G9 (35mm – 200mm zoom) also shoots RAW.

The Lumix LX3 also shoots raw, can be an OK back-up camera, also HD video, cheers, Matthieu

I’m tempted to get an LX3, but for me, I’m more likely to go with the EP-1. Not a compact, but one better in my humble opinion. I have carried a G9 compact with me for the last couple of years, and used perhaps a little too often in preference over my D300. I have shots I wish I’d taken on the DSLR. So I figure, if I get the EP-1, I can have the best of both. The DR doesn’t look bad for what it is either. I would hang out for the forthcoming Lumix GF-1, but I’m likely to be going abroad before it’s released. Such is life. The best camera is the one you have with you. An oldie, but a goodie of a saying.

Thanks ya all :-)))!
Yes, Blue, you are right. Work with the one you’ve got. But the wide angle (28 mm) of my compact is getting in my way, so to speak. I like the 24-60 mm reach of the LX3, which is what I am looking for. Not too much tele…
Do you have any idea when the Lumix GF-1 will be released? I am not in a hurry…
