You can buy Leica R-to-Canon adaptors for certain Canon FF DSLRs.
I wonder if someone will make a Leica R-to-Nikon adaptor for the D700.

Why? Nikon glass is plenty good enough. As is Tokina and for a lot less.

I like Leica glass a lot and their R-series stuff isn’t that expensive..
