D70 Problem

After serving me well for years, my D70 has started to show some wear and tear. I just discovered that, on Single Area Focus Mode, I could not switch the focus area anymore, even when the focus area lock is not engaged. I don’t think that the button itself is the problem, since it works when used on other functionalities (e.g. preview photos, etc..)

It’s also unable to focus on distant subjects when I use a focal length longer than 100mm. I initially reckoned that it was a problem with the cheap zoom lense. But now that I could not even switch the focus area, I think it’s the camera itself.

Anyone had similar problems? Is this software or mechanical. I won’t be able to take this to the shop till next week and I would appreciate hearing from someone out here.

Thanks and regards,

Erik

Well I can’t select focus area, but that’s the button not working anymore. And since this week I get an error and the camera locks up, only to come back when the battery is removed. Even more strange is that the 3 pics I took before the locked aren’t saved to the CF.

Think I’ll have to start and save for a new camera.
