About
I’ve been shooting pictures since I was nine years old, developing and printing my own pictures since I was eleven, and got my first SLR when I was thirteen.
My first professional gig came in 1981, and I’ve been a photojournalist full-time since 1985. You’d think I’d know better by now.
I live and work in Oakland, Calif., am a staffer for the Oakland Tribune, and do some occasional stringing for the Associated Press.
I’m available for freelance work if it doesn’t conflict with my "real job."
I got into this business because I (naively) believed that journalism could make this world a better place. Despite all evidence to the contrary, on any given day, I still believe that.
