Subject: Public address by the Dalai Lama from the steps of the U.S. Capitol
On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by the President and Congressional leadership in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. This event is scheduled to take place from 1-2pm EST, and will be simulcast onto the West Lawn of the Capitol.
Following the official ceremony, Speaker Pelosi will escort the Dalai Lama out onto the West Lawn of the Capitol where the Dalai Lama will make public remarks to the American people and the Tibetan community.
The West Lawn event is free and open to the public.
