Just back from 12 months travelling around SE Asia, a bit of time in Aus, 10 weeks in NZ and a few in Japan.
I spent 3 months volunteering as an Expedition Photographer covering various projects around Sabah, Borneo for Raleigh International youth development charity (UK based). I’ve recently returned from a 2 week trip to Kabul and around to take images for a travel magazine.
Like everyone, I’d love to break into freelance photography and writing, but am realistic about it (thus the potential return to IT to pay the bills!).

Love travelling, miss taking photos on my trip.

Love outdoors stuff like climbing, mountaineering, backcountry snowboarding and exploring Scotland.

Perpignan - Visa Pour L'image 08 for beginners? Worth it?

I am going to Perpignan this year as a first timer. My main aim is to spend a couple of days just soaking it all up.
I am not a professional and have only had a couple of things published recently – mainly from a trip to Afghanistan last year.
My question about the festival is – is it worth heading to (I’ll travel from Scotland)…I think I know the answer to that….
The main query is as a newbie going with the intention of soaking up as much info as possible and hopefully learning a thing or two, is it worth considering going to the professional week….or should I just leave that to the folk that to you real pros? Is the pro week really for people that are already established, or have specific portfolios they are aiming to get an agency etc interested in?

Any info/advice appreciated! Cheers
