Dave is a thirty-three year old Melbourne-based photographer and writer. He specialises in reportage, features and portraiture. Dave’s recent work has appeared in such publications as Der Spiegel (Germany), The Fader (USA), Geographical (UK), Mercedes Magazine, Lexus Magazine, American Express Insider, theage (melbourne) magazine, Good Weekend, Sunday Life and the Big Issue. Other clients include WITNESS (USA), Australian Red Cross, Oxfam, CARE Australia, Medicos del Mundo, Office of Commonwealth Games Coordination Melbourne 2006, Jeff Banks and Absolut Cut.
In 2003, Dave documented the state of post-conflict Sierra Leone in West Africa as part of follow up work of the Sierra Leone Truth and Reconciliation – a self-funded project. This work was widely published in Australia and abroad and culminated in the exhibition Welcome to Sierra Leone at the University of Melbourne.
As a writer, Dave is a contributor to The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald, writes regularly for ProPhoto Magazine (Australia) and has been published as a reporter in Freetown, Sierra Leone for the British newspaper, the Independent. He recently interviewed photographic luminaries Lewis Morley, Steve McCurry and Stephen Dupont for the Saturday Age, ProPhoto and Sydney Morning Herald respectively.
Dave’s photo-documentary work is held in the permanent collections of The National Library of Australia, State Library of Victoria and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Dave is a member of Australian Commercial and Media Photographers (ACMP), Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) and is represented by World Picture Network in New York.
