For the past 20 years I have focused on photo projects in California, Mexico and Central America and since 1996 have lived in the San Diego/Tijuana area where I have developed a keen and comprehensive understanding of the often complex and chaotic world that is the border.
My work has been published in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Life Magazine, Gatopardo, Proceso, The Associated Press and European Pressphoto Agency, among others.
For 10 years I was a member of Impact Visuals, a photo agency that was focused on the use of photography as a means to bring about positive social change.
Although I continue to work as a photojournalist covering news and features along the California/Mexico border, I am also in a process of retrospection and evolution of my personal work. Something that can easily be neglected when consumed with photojournalism as a way of life.
Close on the horizon for me are a few photo documentary workshops I am developing that will give an opportunity to explore the unique and dynamic visual/social/cultural panorama of Tijuana, Mexico.
