On the 23rd of June 2006, a brutal act of violence ended war reporter Martin Adler’s life. He was filming a demonstration in Mogadishu when a lone gunman came out of the crowd and shot him in the back in broad daylight.
‘The War Reporter’ is a documentary film by director Thomas Nordanstad about Martin’s life and death. The first public screening of the film will be at HOST Gallery in London on Monday 4th October at 6.30pm.
A percentage of the ticket sales will go to Martin’s family.
Martin was one of the longest serving members of Panos Pictures, and was a valued friend as well as an outstanding photographer and integral part of the agency. Alongside his work as a photographer, he was an award winning television journalist and filmmaker. His outstanding work in over thirty countries helped to shine a light on poverty, human rights abuses and the fate of individuals in the midst of war and genocide.
