Born in the U.S., David holds a Ph.D. in anthropology and a masters degree in journalism from the Pennsylvania State University. He has developed and taught visual anthropology and visual journalism curricula at universities in the U.S. and Australia, as well as at AINA in Kabul, Afghanistan and Pathshala in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Editorial work takes David mainly to Asia, where he also teaches on-location photo workshops in Dharamsala, India, and in Leh, Ladakh. His work appears internationally in publications like, Geo, Stern, Focus, Time, Newsweek and the London Sunday Times Magazine.
