About

I started my adult life as a diver. I worked in a variety of environments from oil platforms to tourist destinations, and over many years, became very aware of and frustrated with the rapid decline of the marine environment. This led me to take up photography as a means of expressing that discontent.

For over ten years now, I have worked exclusively as a photographer. For five years I was based in Europe, and covered current events, underwater, environmental and human interest stories in the EU and Middle East for various agencies. In 2009, I returned to Asia, my spiritual home, to document the changes that are occurring there. One of the first things that struck me in China was the enormous and very visible gap between the rich and the poor. Speaking Mandarin and Cantonese gives me unique access to many places and people, and I am currently engaged in a number of personal projects centering around this theme.
