Spent last month in Libya, treks through the desert involving sand-diving. M8 shutter occasionally stuck in the down position, got worse each extended excursion through the sand. Intermittently stuck now, not reliable.
Looking to head back next week. Any place in NYC to take her apart and clean out the shutter assembly with a quick turn around?
Or even better – anyone have experience with the $300 Leica tool? Possible to take apart the M8s easily, clean out the shutter mechanism and put back together without loosing springs and assorted shit?
Couldn’t find any detailed guides or repair manuals online for the M8.
Cheers.
