Photography has been Deborah Coleman’s vehicle into peoples’ lives while wearing tailored suits in the White House to weathered jeans in Texas. She grew up in the diverse San Francisco Bay Area and thrives in California’s communities of endless stories. It is her desire to pursue photo stories that affect and enlighten communities.
At UC Davis, where Deborah acquired her degree in International Relations in 2002, she gained intellectual tools to help her document current events. Since there was no photography program at UC Davis, Deborah pursued experiences to sharpen her skills.
Deborah has worked at the White House Photo Office, The California Aggie, Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram, Contra Costa Times and The Palm Beach Post. In addition, she has participated in The Missouri Photo Workshop and completed a Poynter Institute Visual Journalism Fellowship.
Deborah Coleman is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she is currently Staff Photographer at Pixar Animation Studios. Also, she pursues editorial and wedding photography on the side.
