Mumbai-based photojournalist, Dhiraj Singh, is a native of Benaras the cultural capital of India. A graphic designer by profession, he turned to photojournalism and documentary photography to explore the world around him. His work has been published in Newsweek, Vanity Fair, The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, L’Espresso, Respekt, The National Post, The Age, Helsingin Sanomat and others. He recently won the third place in ‘war and disaster’ category at China International Press Photo Award-2009 and third place in Spot News category-1 at “The Asia Media Award” which was held in conjunction with IFRA’s Publish Asia 2008. His work has also been exhibited as part of a larger world photography exhibition titled ‘Gas Project’07’, Doze Green [NYC] at Global Gallery, Sydney, Australia 2007. The National Maritime Museum, Finland has a permanent collection of his images. His pictures of the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 were also part of a group exhibition titled, ‘Bearing Witness’ held in Mumbai in 2009. He is based out of Mumbai and is available for assignments in the South East Asia region.
