Diyarbikir, Turkey

I’m heading to Diyarbikir in July to work on a story regarding Kurds and the PKK; I’m looking for advice from anyone who has previously worked in the region. In addition information on the ease of transmitting from the region. This is my first international assignment, so any and all advice would be appreciated.

I’m specifically looking for info on what types of phones will work in the area, and suggestions for economical transmitting.

There was some good advice handed out a few months back when it looked like it was all gonna kick off big time. Also you may as well get in contact with people who’ve been there in the past couple of months. Try and make it to Mardin and and Hassankeyf if you can. And Haakari if you have the time.
