About

Daniel Lovering is a staff reporter for The Associated Press based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From 2000 to 2005, he was based in Bangkok, Thailand, and covered several countries in Southeast Asia. He has also reported from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Before joining the AP in early 2002, he was a Bangkok-based reporter for the French news agency Agence France-Presse. Previously, he covered the Internet industry in Southeast Asia for asia.internet.com, an online trade publication, and wrote for several newspapers and magazines, including The Asian Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The Boston Globe, Businessweek and Scientific American. He has been awarded a Pew Fellowship in International Journalism and a New York Times Foundation fellowship. He began working as a freelance journalist in 1995. Lovering graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and Oberlin College.
