Vienna has always been a meeting point between the East and the West. That’s why ANZENBERGER AGENCY – founded in 1989 and based in Vienna – has chosen this as a main subject for the 20th anniversary of the agency. This celebration will already start a year before with the first of two volumes of the anniversary publication – the book EAST of Anzenberger. At the same time an exhibition on YOUNG EASTERN EUROPEAN PHOTOGRAPHY will be shown. For this exhibition the curators Regina Maria Anzenberger and the photographer Reiner Riedler (since 1992 in the agency and most successful and internationally working Austrian photographer of the agency) have chosen about 100 photographs of 12 young award-winning photographers from Albania, Belarus, Czech Republic, Latvia, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia – all of them between 25 and 35 years old.

“The agency remains – is perhaps now more than ever – a place for photojournalists with the ambition to witness the world and produce exciting photo-essays that are visually interesting and journalistically relevant. A meeting place for photographers from both East and West. A family, not a factory, dedicated to photography and quality. A place for people with passion. A virtual home for photography in the midst of Europe, the beautiful city of Vienna.”
Regina Maria Anzenberger, Vienna, April 2008
