Ellie’s Story . . .
Ellie Van Houtte is a skilled photographer and creative communications professional.
Dedicated to connecting communities across the globe together through cultural and political diplomacy, Ellie’s experiences range from documenting social institutions in India, to working with non-profit housing, social justice, and youth organizations in Washington, DC, and even serving as a citizen diplomat on climate change, diplomacy, women’s rights and international affairs. Her compelling portfolio of portraits from South-East Asia was recognized as a Lucie Foundation Scholarship Finalist in 2010.
Ellie hopes to continue to inspire advocacy of critical social, political and environmental issues through photojournalism and collaboration with non-profit organizations. Five years from now, Ellie envisions herself working in the field for media and non-profit organizations to provide visual imagery that inspires people to resolve critical humanitarian issues. Additionally, she hopes to utilize her background in political and issues organizing to benefit international organizations through event planning, strategic project management, and creative communications and outreach.
