Email notifications
Will unchecking this (Yes, I want to receive email notifications about new posts, if requested by the author.)in preferences also keep me from receiving ‘subscription’ emails..the ones that come every time someone posts something after me in the body of a thread?
If not, how do you do that, short of clicking (unsubscribe) each time I reply to someone else’s thread?

Erica, if I understand your question right, yes, unclicking that box will prevent you from getting emails every time someone posts something.
I have it unchecked, and never get an email about a thread. and when I reply in a thread, I have the option to be notified, not to not be notified (if that makes sense).
If this doesn’t answer your question and you want to experiment some let me know.

hi Andrew..it’s the last part of your answer I am trying to figure out, how to not get email notifications when I REPLY to a thread in progress. I know each time I can “unsubscribe” on the thread itself, but is there a way across the board that will let me post all I want, and never get email notifications?
|
For example, i just ‘returned to thread’ so I could ‘unsubscribe’ from this thread..
i want to know if, across the board, there is a way to never get email notifications.

Hi Erica—check this page: http://www.lightstalkers.org/subscriptions
Look for “Notification Settings” on the right; you can turn everything off there. Your thread subscriptions will remain active, but you won’t get any actual email.
|
Got it – and now you’re heard from the master anyway :)
|
hi Shinji..what do you mean by “Your thread subscriptions will remain active”?
|
I imagine that means that all of your subscriptions remain tied to your account so, should you decide you want to start receiving email notifications again, you can just tick one box and all your old subscriptions will send updates without you having to resubscribe to each one.
|
Hey erica…did you get my PM? More specifically, did you get a notice you have an unread message before you read my PM?
I ask because I had 2 new ones and found them by accident – the notification thing didn’t seem to work for me…
best, A.

Scott is correct; when you turn off email notifications, your subscriptions aren’t automatically deleted. This way, you can turn on notifications again later and you won’t have lost anything.
