Favourite Camera Bag
|
Hi!
I need to get a new camera bag for my Canon 20D (sometimes Eos 3) and 24-70 f2.8 L lens… Just want to have it by my side so I have easy access to it.
There’s so may choices out there so I was wondering if any of you use a particular brand / model for it’s all round convenience, build and durability? Can’t afford Billingham quite yet!
Thank you for your help and suggestions.

The Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag might be good. It can be used as a shoulder bag or a pouch since it’s built with a belt loop. I used to have one but gave it to a friend since I now prefer the pouch-on-belt system with smaller pouches.

I personally love my Crumpler (6 million dollar for me), fits exactly that set up, with all the extras, plus my 15’’ macbook pro or a book and notebook no problems. It’s easy to carry, stylish to an extent and most importantly, doesn’t look like a camera bag at all. I’ve had mine for two years, the build quality is excellent. Cheers

I have a Domke f-3x. Love it, had it for I think going on 15 years. Crumple it up in my luggage then unload it for location. I fill it with a Canon and 17-40, a couple spare batteries, CF cards, and small flash. When it gets dirty I just throw it in the washing machine.

Billinghams are a dream and not much more then a crumpler etc,
If you are thinking about spending 300 why not 400? And why spend 200 now if you might want another bag in a year and will be worse off in the end. spend now and enjoy for a long long time.
I have not used the domke so don’ have an opinion but I really enjoy the classic look/feel of the Billingham.

After more than 10 years my good old Domke F-2 is still going with me on most of my jobs. And if it’s not the Domke than i’m using the TENBA Pro Traveller (this one keeps also an 17” laptop). But one more time…the Domke F-2 is my personal favorit.

My tan Domke f-2 with the backpack strap went with me to Asia recently for a 6 week stint… in the main compartment: 40D w/ a mounted 24-70L 100-400L Hasselblad 500c/m Leica M6 w/ lens side pockets: spare M lens light meter spare battery w/ charger for the 40D 15 rolls 35 and 120 of film in an xray safe bag ..and the bag could not look any less like a camera bag. I have a Billingham, but it’s just not as durable (safe when closed) and versatile as the Domke. Now.. all this being said, I used a LowePro 650 Stealth to get me to Asia, just so i could shlep the powerbook in the same bag. Soon as I was on the ground in Asia, the 650 stayed at the hotel, and the Domke was the only bag from there on out.
Still.. asking ‘what bag is the best’ is a loaded question.. I think we all have at least 6 camera bags that we don’t use, and one we call a favorite.
For me, it’s the Domke F-2. I know it’s the one bag that I’ll have for many years.
a side story.. I ran into a very nice older Japanese photographer who had a Domke bag that he claimed he’s had for 20 years.. it looked it on the outside, but the guts were as fresh as my bag.
