After a career as an Art Director at a Dutch design and advertising agency I studied photojournalism at the Academy of Photography Amsterdam (Fotoacademie Amsterdam). Working as a professional photojournalist since 2000, my work has appeared in various Dutch national and international newspapers and magazines such as: De Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad, Le Figaro, Le Monde, La Liberation, Het Financieele Dagblad, USA Today. Contrast, Quote, Nature Magazine, Pictorial Post, The Smithsonian, Newsweek, National Geographic Magazine and others.
